GOD IS NOT A COMMODITY
Christianity and Islam are the most widely spread religions that are well represented in all the continents. This spread which has taken several centuries was not by chance but by meticulous planning of highly indoctrinated leaders and soldiers with the intention of conquering others and subjugating then to their cultural beliefs all in the name of God. This has been highly successful particularly in Africa where millions have died through slavery, colonialism and capitalism again all in the name of God the Almighty! In their earlier years, both religions were spread though the gun during inquisitions and crusades.Whereas both religions have claimed to spread the word of God through the Bible and the Koran, what they have actually done is to forcefully spread their culture to others. In Africa they spread this culture through slavery and colonialism where they were supported by their leaders to plunder the resources from Africa for their own use at home. This is actually the basis of industrial revolution that has changed the face of the world through creation of wealth and capital at the expense of Africa. This system still continues to fleece Africa through the intricate and complex network of capitalism. The churches were allowed to share in the creation and accumulation of this wealth by the rulers who sent them out to convert the heathens.Today, the catholic church is one of the wealthiest conglomerates in the world with interests in banking, real estate, entertainment, insurance and in any thinkable business undertaking. The Vatican Bank which is at the center of the Catholic Church was linked to the collapsed Banco Ambrosiano which has been at the center of money laundering, arms dealings and all other evils associated with capitalism. Rev. Sun Myung Moon, the flamboyant and rich Korean head of the Unification Church was quoted in the '70s to have said that the easiest way to create wealth was by establishing a church. Perhaps, he stated the obvious bluntly which the Catholics, Anglicans, Methodists, Evangelicals dared not say publicly. Like private companies or private members clubs, churches have their trust deeds, charters, articles of association, code of regulations, etc. You are only allowed to subscribe to them after you pay the requisite fees. The fees may be annual or weekly tithes. One may say that there is nothing in the matter here. But paying fees in the name of God to pray God? OMG! The Evangelicals have even gone a notch higher by registering churches in every nook and cranny of the world. They now pitch for business like all capitalist concerns through ads in TV, Radio, the Press and open air campaigns. However, woe unto you if you are not a member for you will be subjected to ridicule and discrimination in the name of God. Black Africa has now to wake up and say loudly that this foreign religion and culture is not suitable to us because it continues to subjugate and discriminate against us. We prayed openly and freely before the advent of slavery and colonialism but we are now being forced to pay to belong to a church. It's time to say no to a culture that forces us to pay to access God the same way one pays for electricity to light their homes. God is not a commodity to be peddled around in a willing seller/willing buyer arrangement! This is why we need to remember at all times that Christianity is the biggest agent of colonialism, imperialism and capitalism today in Black Africa through which they control our minds. We need our freedom!

A walking contradiction,"the African christian". Africans were indoctrinated so thoroughly they became the fiercest defenders of the same tools that ended their run as free cultural entities.
ReplyDeleteI think this is the crowning success in the Europeans long list of successes against the African. Beaten so badly you side with your
assailant. Shameful.
Only in Africa do we still have conflicts between Christians and Muslims that leave hundreds dead every year.
Is there any chance of the cultural revolution you seek ? Not on those terms. But Africans can rise by taming the foreign beast that brought us to our knees. Instead of hanging on to tribes ( usually in name and/or language only while culture is uniformly erratic and confused across them), we should instead discard them and find brotherhood in entrepreneurship, nationality, unions, value in the science process etc.
But where do we begin when a majority of university 'educated' Kenyans proudly list on Facebook under books read "I don't read books' ? And how can we go back to our Gods when they have not seen us in 200 years ?
